  • My Date with East Europe

East Europe, the country to be in 2016 has the most vibrant secretive and exciting countries of Europe. East Europe not so popular a few years back is now flocking with tourists from all over the world. It has a lot of exciting places to visit and explore. It is a country with a colorful history, fascinating folklore, scenic countryside and elegant cities. These are the cities that I had visited during my vacation to East Europe.

Budapest(Hungary): I reached the beautiful city of Budapest with the river Danube welcoming me with a warm hug. Budapest comprises of the twin cities of Buda and Pest separated by river Danube. The Parliament Building is the most beautiful building in all of Budapest with amazing architecture and scintillating art work. The cruise over river Danube is a peaceful and calm journey while enjoying the beautiful views of all the houses and monuments along the banks of river Danube. At night, I hired a cab driver and set out to see Budapest by night which was the beautiful. I saw the famous Parliament Building and the Chain Bridge all lit up and it was both pretty and awe-inspiring. It really made my stay at Budapest the best.

Lake Bled(Slovenia): Lake Bled is literally Paradise on Earth surrounded with magnificent mountains and greenery. It has a church in the middle which you can reach by a fun little boat ride. The best part about the church is that you can ring the bell by pulling the ropes attached to it. It is not as easy as it looks. In the evening or morning you can take a stroll around the lake to take in the peaceful and calm atmosphere. Lake Bled was an amazing part of my journey.

Ljubljana(Slovenia): A small and cozy city to explore but I had the most fun here. I had a good 3-4 hours walking tour covering all the major points of the city. The walking tour was so well explained that it didn’t feel much of a strain and I didn’t come to know the time at all. I visited the Lovers Bridge where the lover’s locks were locked and the keys are thrown into the river below as a sign of unbreakable love. The city, because of it being tiny and cozy makes you feel happy and content with the place.

Cesky Krumlov(Czech Republic): I made a small detour on my tour as my guide had suggested that it is a beautiful place and I had to visit it. The beautiful castle is definitely worth the time and money spent on this city. Indeed it was the best detour I had taken and would recommend as a must see destination.

Prague(Czech Republic):Prague a beautiful city by day and night bustles with eclectic and happening lifestyle. I visited the Old Town Square and as amazed by the crowd of tourists pouring into that place. The most fun part of the Square is when people gather around to see the Astronomical Clock which has figurines of skeleton and other ancient idols to depict the story of life.

Dubrovnik(Croatia): Dubrovnik is a mesmerizing coastal town which is still set in the olden times with its picturesque Old Town. The Cable Car Ride up the hill will let you see the pretty town of Dubrovnik in all its beauty. The town square is alive and happening all through the day and night with bustling cafes ice cream shops and souvenir shops for you to enjoy your time there. It is a fun place to visit and explore and has a upbeat pulse to it that anyone would love it here.   dubrovnik

Krakow(Poland): The Main Square is the heart of the city as it is always bustling with people, street artists, restaurants, cafes and horse carriages rides. There is a market inside the main building where one can shop and explore the place. The restaurants have a folklore show of Poland’s culture along with traditional Polish dinner. The time spent in Krakow was fun and exciting and I would like to back there again.

Auschwitz Camp(Poland): Only about an hour’s drive from Krakow, the Auschwitz Concentration Camp was an eye opener on the happenings during the time of the Nazis. The stories told by the guide of Auschwitz Camp gives you a real time experience of how things would have been and really moves you. It is a moving narration of what had been going on and experience that brought tears to my eyes.

Split(Croatia): Split is another happening coastal town with scenic waters and ancient beautiful buildings. After walking up and down through the Diocletian’s Palace, the waterfront is a beautiful and relaxing place with soft breeze blowing and blue waters to enjoy and relax after the tour. You can even do your souvenir shopping with the different array of shops. I recommend you to visit this city as it a cross between the old and the new with the Diocletian’s Palace one hand and the happening lifestyle on the other. I would rate this city as a must see.

My trip of East Europe was one among the best and most memorable. I would recommend you to visit this side of Europe too as it are the most trending destination of 2016.

Italy, famously known for ancient culture, close-knit families, mesmerizing coastlines, high cliffs and delicious food is a place yet to be discovered.

Cinque Terre is a collection of five fishing communities on the coast of Italy which is its most iconic highlight. The five villages are no longer the isolated hamlets they once were, but there’s still a feeling of remote authenticity, with few roads, perfectly preserved architecture and a network of stunning coastal and mountain trails.

As it is tucked away in a mountainous kink of Italy, transportation is best way to get there is by train. There are train lines which connect the five fishing villages directly with major cities like Genoa, Pisa and Rome.

For exploring the five mesmerizing villages is a timeless appeal but do give it a good five to six days to really get to know the place. It really is the kind of place that rewards taking it slow, whether you’re kicking back at a waterfront table in Vernazza, glass of wine in hand, or listening to birdsong and resting your weary legs at an ancient sanctuary on a cliff top high above.

It’s a great place to explore the coast of Italy and enjoy the sights and sounds of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.cinque-terre-italy-22260554-2272-1704_fanpop_com

The most beautiful and awe-inspiring sights of the turquoise waters and the high cliffs of the Italian Coast are of the Amalfi Coast. This extremely popular coast is the destination to be for having the best experience of the sea life.

Spring and autumn are wonderful in this region. Five days is all you need to take in the highlights of the region. Consider a night or two on the volcanic garden island of Ischia, and then spend the rest of your time at one of the coastal gems – Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi itself – with day trips to explore the splendors of Pompeii, Ravello’s gardens and some mountain scenery.

When in Amalfi Coast, these are the sights you must see before taking your flight back home:

Sorrento, a grand dame of local tourist towns, Sorrento sits pretty on a cliff gazing out at Vesuvius, and there’s a charming fishing village down below. Positano, of all the tumbling coastal towns in Italy has to be the most beautiful, with its surreally steep geography and colourful houses. Capri, the whitewashed core of Capri town is lovely, with a path leading through terraced countryside to a Roman villa.

Verona is a splendid ancient corner of the Veneto region, nestling between the river Adige and Lake Garda. Made famous by Shakespeare with setting three of his plays, the most popular one being Romeo and Juliet have been set in this beautiful and picturesque town of Italy. The most popular attraction of this town is Juliet’s balcony which is the same balcony of the famous Romeo and Juliet’s love scene in the play. As it is said that Juliet lives there, there are computers on which people could write to Juliet about their love stories and tragedies and people get their replies from ‘sectaries’ of the Juliet Club in Verona. It is city that is still not discovered by many and you should make it a point to visit this beautiful city.

The pizza we’re all familiar with — the kind with tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings — did originate in Italy. Specifically, baker Raffaele Esposito from Naples is often given credit for creating the first such pizza pie. Historians note, however, that flat breads with a variety of toppings had been sold by street vendors and eaten by the poor workers of Naples for many years.

Legend has it that Esposito was called upon to make a pizza for Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita when they visited Naples in 1889. That pizza, which featured fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil, is still known as Pizza Margherita today. When in Italy, a classic Margherita is a must eat which in itself is a sumptuous experience.

In the shadow of the snow-covered Rhaetian Alps, Lago di Como (also known as Lago Lario) is the most spectacular of the lakes. Shaped like an upside-down letter Y, measuring 120km all up, its squiggly shoreline is scattered with villages, including exquisite Bellagio, in the centre of the inverted V on the lake’s southern shore. Where the southern and western shores converge is the lake’s main town, Como. Lecco, the other large town on the lake, sits where the southern shore meets the lesser-explored eastern shore. You could do a walking or biking tour around the lake and places surrounding the lake. Experience the rich culture and art of the region including some of the most lavish villas and gardens. Also soak in the atmosphere of the lakeside. Lake Como gives a relaxing and calm vibe which we often miss due to our busy schedules.lecco2
